2005 CPS Team Building Event

These pics were taken at Tigertail Park in Fort Lauderdale on November 15, 2005.

In order to boost team camaraderie, the Managers of the CPS team decided to hold a Team Building Event. The event was shrouded in secrecy during the planning stages, but eventually turned out to be a Boat-Building exercise, in which each team had a few hours to construct a boat that would be measured on Speed, Buoyancy, Design, and Parts Used.

The Management team prototyped a raft that barely could stand up to Milan's 250lb weight! We eventually went with a smaller pilot and two 'pushers' to get to the finish line in one piece. We ended up with two people on our raft, supporting 400-ish lbs of weight!

The CI Team (my group), designed a very nice raft complete with sail and everything. The smallest team member, Anand, got on the raft, with Colin pushing from behind. The team got hampered by timing, as the wind died exactly when they began their run! They compensated by using more pushers. Their raft was able to eventually hold the weight of two members.

The eventual winners were Team G with a very well-designed raft. They were second in speed, and second in weight, but had enough points for the overall win!

After the competition, they took their raft out for a little pleasure-cruise!

Yes, these really are the people I work with!
